Binaural Beats for Sound Healing/Chakra Cleansing

What Are Binaural Beats?

A binaural beat is the creation of sound made in the brain when hearing two tones that are slightly different frequencies. They are considered as auditory illusions and in order for them to work optimally you should listen through headphones - This is because there will be one tone played in the right and another in the left ear.

The Health Benefits

Binaural beats can induce similar; if not the same mental states associated with meditation practice, but quicker. Some of the results are:

  • Reduced anxiety

  • Increased focus/concentration

  • Lowered stress

  • Promoted creativity

  • help manage pain

  • improve mood

Different Types

There are five brain waves that create binaural beats and affect our state.

Delta: linked to deep sleep, healing and pain relief.

Theta: associated with meditation, deep relaxation and creativity.

Alpha: reduced stress, maintains positive thinking and increases learning capabilities.

Beta: focuses attention, stimulates energy and promotes problem solving

Gamma: helps with memory recall and activates self-awareness

Where, when and how?

YouTube has a plethora to choose from but there is always the option of sound bath classes and 1-1 sound healing which uses singing bowls and other forms of instrumentation.

There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to how often or best times to try. Over time you will discover if ten, twenty, thirty minutes or more is your preference. Think about whether you would like to listen in the morning to set you up for the day, or at night to get good sleep. This is a great self-help tool which you can tailor to your needs. How can you implement it into your life as a singer? Maybe you have an upcoming performance and you're feeling nervous about it, or preparing to attend a singing lesson or group session; you could try listening a few hours before the and potentially in the days leading up to it!

Tip: Keep a log-book to look back at how you felt afterwards and find what works! Dating your sessions including time of day, length, surroundings, type and what you felt prior to listening will help you determine in future the best course of action for your present state.

Chakra Cleanse

Below you will find a few videos with binaural beats to target specific locations within the body. Have a listen, play around and see how you feel...

Crown

Location: top of the head

An imbalanced or blocked Crown Chakra often causes physical symptoms such as poor coordination, physical exhaustion or fatigue, headaches, dizziness, light sensitivity, brain fog, sleep disturbances etc.

Third Eye

Location: Forehead

The third eye chakra may need balancing if you are experiencing anxiety, emotional instability, judgmental, headaches, insomnia or lack of creativity

Throat

Location: Neck

When throat chakra is blocked, it's very hard to speak up for yourself. Your voice might sound thin, weak or whispery, as though it lacks power. You might find it difficult to say no.

Heart

Location: Chest Centre

An imbalanced heart chakra may result in you feeling unworthy or unable to trust in yourself or others. There can be physical signs too, such as poor circulation, high or low blood pressure or general stiffness in your shoulders, chest and upper back.

Solar Plexus

Location: Torso

Digestive issues, fatigue, low self-esteem, lack of motivation, difficulty setting boundaries, fear of rejection, workaholism, control issues, perfectionism or struggle with decision-making

Sacral

Location: Tailbone

Possible symptoms of a sacral chakra imbalance are issues with intimacy, emotional instability, lack of emotion, stifled creativity, addictions, fear of change, depression, reproductive or urinary issues. The sacral chakra is your creativity center and responds best to play.

Root

Location: Base of Spine

One of the most common symptoms of a blocked root chakra is an inability to feel safe. You may have trust issues — constantly feeling suspicious and vulnerable. This can show up physically as well as mentally. Clenched fists, stiff shoulders, and sweating are a few bodily indications of feeling unsafe.
